YOU ARE STILL ALIVEScreenprint on paper, March 1998. |

Even though I printed this poster in 1998, I was busy with other things and didn't put the first one up until New Year's day 2000. I like to think of it as my millennium gift to the nation. I didn't really want the poster to relate to a particular event - I think it's relevant even when nothing special is happening in the reader's life - but the Y2K mania was hard to resist. In October 2002, The Council of the City of Sydney held a banner design competition. |

20 winners would have their image printed on to street banners and displayed throughout the CBD during the "Art and About" Festival. "You Are Still Alive" was selected as one of the banners and about 24 street banners of it were put up around the city. I took slides of the banners in the street - they looked great - but I can't afford to have them printed. However, as part of the festival, the banner artwork was also projected on to the side of the A.M.P. building at night. And then... In May 2003 "You Are Still Alive" was chosen as the title work for an exhibition of my work at the University of NSW COFA. |
