No RegretsScreenprint on coreflute, February, 2002 |

The first sign following the Sydney 2000 Olympics. I had always wanted to do something based on the "No Stopping" sign. It's a striking design that immediately communicates importance. There is an urgency and absoluteness about it. But I spent most of 2001 blocked and came up with very few ideas. It meant that I began 2002 with many regrets. Eventually, to fill in time between sighs, I started thinking about "Regrets." I came to the conclusion that, putting aside things that regrets are appropriate for (Murder, mayhem, Chicago albums...) a great many of the regrets we weigh ourselves down with relate to things that we can't do anything to change. So I thought, enough already with the regrets! Let's get on with it, Nicky boy. |

This mention appeared in Column 8 SMH (I like the way they describe the sign as "professionally produced." Hell, say what you like about Chinese kiddies, they're not the only ones who can do good work.) |
